Jeffrey Adam “Gus” Weaver has performed as a violinist in symphonies, small ensembles, and as a soloist for over three decades. His education and career have taken him from the Southeast to the Midwest and the Northwest, and his performances range from formal classical symphony concerts, weddings, funerals, mariachi, rock, prayer services, and church services to informal business parties, private home gatherings, art openings, and street festivals.
Gus is a member of the Amarillo Symphony Orchestra in Texas and the Ft. Smith Symphony in Arkansas. He also performs regularly as a member of Mariachi Orgullo de America in the Oklahoma City and surrounding areas. As an instructor and mentor he teaches violin, viola, and guitar lessons and has taught in the Oklahoma City Metro area; Pocatello, Idaho; Portland, Oregon; and Melbourne, Florida.
Mr. Weaver holds a Master of Music in Performance degree from the University of Oklahoma and a Bachelor of Music in Performance degree from Idaho State University. He also holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in the Program of Liberal Studies from the University of Notre Dame. His principal violin teachers include Hal Grossman, Keum Hwa Cha, Chung Park, Carol Sindell, Carolyn Plummer, and Igor Markstein. His principal viola teacher was Chung Park. His personal guitar studies have been supplemented through courses with Berklee College of Music and the National Guitar Academy.
